To Do List for the Week of 2/17/2026 from Life In Pieces

Hard to believe that February is already more than half over.  I need to get busy on a few projects if I'm going to stay on track with my goals for the year.  My weekly to do list helps to keep me on track, most weeks anyway.  I didn't do too badly last week.

To Do List for 2/10/2026

1. Kate's Choice: Assemble Quilt top and decide on borders ✔

2. SAHRR: Start the 4th prompt

3. Scenic Waypoint: Finish hourglass/center units, start corner units

4. Magnificent Mystery: Continue block assembly

5. Wild and Goosey ...

To Do List for the Week of 2/10/2026 from Life In Pieces

I didn't make it to the computer yesterday, so my to do list didn't get posted. We've had a lot going on at our household.  My Guy was involuntarily retired last week as part of company cost cutting efforts. So my schedule is just a bit messed up as we've had to deal with getting a few things figured out and set up. Thankfully, I've still had time to get some sanity time in my sewing room and get a bit done on last week's to do list.

January 2026 PHD Report from Life In Pieces

I'm playing along with Ms. P Designs' PHD in 2026 again this year.  It's my sixth year and I've yet to earn my PHD.  Maybe I can make it work this year?  We'll see.

Only one month into the program and I've started 2 new projects already.  One was planned, the other unplanned.  I'm hoping to finish both quilts this year. Fingers crossed on that plan.  No finishes yet, but there has been good progress on moving several projects closer to that point.

My big goal for January was to restart the quilt as ...

To Do List for the Week of 02/03/2026 from Life In Pieces

Winter hasn't completely relented, but we at least got a bit of a warm up yesterday.  I'll take highs in the 50's after a week of highs just above freezing.  The cold weather has been really good at driving me into my sewing room. One certainly doesn't want to be out and about much in those temps.  More sewing time was definitely a good thing for making progress on last week's to do list.

To Do List for 01/27/2026

1. Kate's Choice: Assemble 5th row ✔
2. SAHRR: Make block for second prompt ...

To Do List for the Week of 01/20/2026 from Life In Pieces

It's been bitterly cold this week. It's great sewing weather, but not so great for much of anything else.  It certainly kept me in the sewing room.  That made last week's to do list look a little short.

To Do List for 1/13/2026

1. 2026 Guild BOM: Finish March, start April blocks ✔

2. Kate's Choice: Assemble third row ✔

3. Magnificent Mystery: Work on Nov/Dec/Jan clues ✔

4. Wild and Goosey: Finish green blocks, start on blue ✔

Definitely a productive week!  Can I do the same this week? Maybe, maybe not. Two quilt alongs ...

To Do List for the Week of 01/13/2026 from Life In Pieces

We'll be halfway through January towards the end of this week. It certainly does seem like time has sped up the last few years.  Maybe I just have more stuff to do?  I definitely did a lot on my to do list for last week.

To Do List for 1/06/2026

1. 2026 Guild BOM: Finish February, start March ✔

2. Kate's Choice: Assemble second row

3. SAHRR: Finish center block

Staying on Track, Mostly from Life In Pieces

My quilt making strategy for 2026 was to focus on just a few projects  and make progress on those.  After the first full week of the new year, I can say that I've not done too badly with that approach.

Kate's Choice came out of the project box and row two is assembled.  I'm trying to quilt a couple of days a week.  Normally I go to the quilt shop for my "social sewing" on Tuesdays and Fridays.  That means I'm unthreading the machine anyway. So when I set the machine up after Late Night Sew ...

To Do List for the Week of 01/06/2026 from Life In Pieces

It always seems so quiet after the first of the year.  My Guy went back to work yesterday, so I was home alone for the first time in a little over 2 weeks. I got used to having someone home, so yesterday seemed especially quiet. I'll get used to it, but it just adds to that let down feeling that happens to me after the bustle and fun of the holiday are over.

My sewing time was a bit sparse before the weekend, but I tried to make up for it on Sunday.  Here's how I fared with ...

Weekend Sewing from Life In Pieces

My Girl and Queenie left Saturday afternoon to start the almost 10 hour trek back to Houston.  So the house felt really empty.  Perfect time to go hide in my sewing room for a bit. My priority for the week is to finish the February block for the guild BOM and get started on the center block for the SAHRR (Quilting Gail).  I'm almost done with the BOM block, but I can't show that till after the guild meeting.  I didn't start the SAHRR center, but did get all the fabric cut for it.

I had to ...

To Do List for the Week of 12/30/2025 from Life In Pieces

Hard to believe this is the last To Do List for 2025 and the first for 2026.  I haven't really given a lot of thought to what my sewing room goals are for 2026.  Once upon a time (like a couple of years ago), I had a strategy for my To Do Lists.  When I was doing that, my impression is that I got a lot more done.  Maybe that's just wishful thinking. But I'll revisit that approach while I'm deciding on next year's goals.  Before moving on to this week's list, how many ...

To Do List for the Week of 12/23/2025 from Life In Pieces

I'm in the coasting portion of the Christmas holiday. The shopping is done, the presents wrapped, groceries bought (mostly). Now I can hang out with family and just chill out. There won't be any sewing room time between now and Christmas, but I'll have lots of time next weekend to decompress from the holiday with my machine.  Before getting to my probably bigger than realistic plans for next week, here is how this week went.

To Do List for 12/16/2025

1.  My Girl Trivets: Quilt the kitty trivets ✔

2.  2026 Guild BOM: Start February block ...

To Do List for the Week of 12/16/2025 from Life In Pieces

With the holiday just around the corner, it's not been as easy to find time to stitch. Then to top it off, my foot pedal for my machine is acting up. It mostly works, then suddenly it will stop. I fiddle with it and it starts back up.  I have found a replacement, but as we have Christmas plans, I didn't want to order it right now.  Hopefully I can limp along till January.

My sewing time this week was cut a bit short by holiday prep and a trip to see my mother.  Consequently, my to do ...

To Do List for the Week of 12/09/2025 from Life In Pieces

It's been a busy week.  I've made some progress on Christmas preparations, but still have a bit to do on that front.  It's definitely meant less time in the sewing room. Consequently, there hasn't been much progress on my to do list from last week.

1.  My Girl Trivets: Quilt kitty trivets - no progress
2.  2026 Guild BOM: Finish January block - progress

November 2025 PHD Report from Life In Pieces

How can it be December already? We've reached that point where you've either done a great job on your PHD plan or not.  There's not much opportunity to fix it at this point.  So I'm going to confess my lack of progress and link up with Ms. P Designs for the November PHD report.

No new finishes, but one new start.  The 2026 Guild BOM won't end until next year and doesn't officially start until January. But as I'm the one leading it this year, I have to be ready to go one ...

To Do List for the Week of 12/02/2025 from Life In Pieces

We pulled into the driveway at 7 PM last night after leaving My Girl's apartment at 7:30 AM yesterday morning.  That's one long day of driving.  Thankfully My Guy was able to take yesterday off so we didn't have to drive home on Sunday.  Driving through Dallas, TX the Sunday after Thanksgiving isn't for the faint of heart. We've done that a couple of times and avoid it if at all possible.  There was still a lot of traffic most of the way, but nothing like we've seen on those after the holiday ...

To Do List for the Week of 11/18/2025 from Life In Pieces

It's been a busy week. I've never been fond of deadline sewing and I've had a bit of that lately.  Having something with a deadline did affect my ability to get to the rest of my to do list this week.

1. 2025 Guild BOM: Complete quilt top assembly ✔

2.  Old Town: Continue Assembly

3.  Magnificent Mystery: Finish Sept, Start Oct/Nov clues - progress

4.  Wild and Goosey: Continue making green blocks ✔

To Do List for the Week of 11/11/2025 from Life In Pieces

What I suspect has been a cold hasn't quite cleared up yet.  Thankfully the sinus pressure and headache have backed off.  I'm still a bit sniffly, but at least I can mostly breathe.  I didn't much done on Saturday since I felt so crappy, but I didn't do too badly with last week's list.

To Do List for 11/04/2025

1.  2025 Guild BOM: Continue quilt top assembly ✔

October 2025 PHD Report from Life In Pieces

Hard to believe there are just two months left in 2025.  It's been a busy year in and out of the sewing room.  The summer was mostly out, I'm hoping fall and winter are mostly in.  Since October is over it's time to assess where I'm at on my PHD report and link up with the October PHD report over at Ms. P Designs.

My PHD report isn't looking great this year. Only one finish back in May. There was one new start in October, the Meadow Mist Designs 2026 Mystery quilt along. That one ...

To Do List for the Week of 11/04/2025 from Life In Pieces

How are you dealing with the week days post time change (for those that live in the US where you fall back this time of year)?  I was awake at 4 this morning, I've been getting up a bit after 5 the last week to mesh with Grad Girl's schedule.  So I was right on time.

Other than dealing with Houston and Dallas traffic, the drive home yesterday was uneventful. It was just long.  I'm already missing my girl and the cat. We'll see them for Thanksgiving and Christmas, so I'll get my hugs and ...

To Do List for the Week of 10/21/2025 from Life In Pieces

Usually my allergies give me fits early in October. But since it hasn't really cooled down till this week, whatever hits the breeze when that happens is playing havoc with my sinuses.  So I've been early to bed and slow to get moving in the morning. So I just didn't get my To Do Tuesday post written yesterday.  In spite of the crappy feeling allergies give me, I did pretty well on working through last week's list even with the early bedtimes and slow mornings.

To Do List for 10/14/2025

1.  2025 Guild BOM ...
